In the world of making money online, micro task websites are incredibly popular.
These sites essentially pay you for completing short tasks like answering surveys, data entry work, or other short online gigs.
One of the most popular players in this space is Clickworker. It lets people from around the world make extra money in their spare time, all from the comfort of their own home and without any experience!
But is Clickworker legit? And how much money can you actually make with this platform?
In our Clickworker review, I’m sharing exactly how this platform works, other user reviews, and how to decide if it’s worth your time.
What Is Clickworker?
Clickworker is an online micro task platform that lets people make money by completing short tasks and for answering surveys. It currently has over 3.6 million freelancers on its platform, who are known as Clickworkers, from all around the world.
For clients, Clickworker provides a team of human workers who can assist with specialized tasks in areas like:
- Data entry work for machine learning
- SEO work
- Image/data categorization and tagging
- Surveys and web research
- Product data maintenance
The platform operates in 45 languages and over 70 countries as well. This makes it a global, flexible way to make money online and a comprehensive solution for businesses looking for human help with online jobs.
In short, Clickworker fills a niche where companies can hire for various small tasks that can be completed online. Whether these jobs take minutes or hours, they find individuals who are a fit and match them with these opportunities.
How Does Clickworker Work?
Getting started with Clickworker is very straightforward. And, the fact the platform is so global is great news if you want an online job that’s flexible and pretty much always looking for new freelancers.
In fact, getting started with Clickworker just takes four simple steps that I’ll explain below!
1. Sign Up
If you want to make money with Clickworker, you sign up under the “Clickworker” section of the website, not the client section.
You can create an account and register online. There’s also a free Clickworker app for Android and iOS that you can use.
When you register, you provide information like your country of residence, name, address, and email. You have to verify your phone number as well, so you need a working SMS phone that can accept texts.
Finally, you verify your email to complete registration. Afterwards, you can explore the Clickworker workplace to find open jobs you can complete for some quick cash.
2. Complete Micro Tasks
As a new Clickworker, you spend a bit of time answering some profile questions about your previous work experience. You can also complete short assessments to help Clickwoker understand more of your skills.
From there, you can claim and complete open jobs in the workplace to make extra money.
Examples of common Clickworker jobs you can complete include:
- Text Creation
- Copy Editing
- Mystery Visit
- App Testing
- Photo Capturing
- Audio Recordings
- Video Recordings
Note that according to Clickworker, the “tasks available may vary from Clickworker to Clickworker based on qualification assessments, previous work assessments, education, language abilities, and interests. Depending on your total profile and qualifications you may be offered some projects or may be excluded from others.”
In other words, previous work experience or completing a certain type of task can help you get more job opportunities in that category. Over time, this helps more experienced workers qualify for more gigs and make more money.
3. Complete UHRS Tasks
The main way to make money on Clickworker is to complete open micro tasks you find in the workplace.
However, Clickworker also partners with UHRS to offer even more job opportunities.
UHRS stands for Universal Human Relevance System. They partner with Clickworker to offer opportunities and payment is made via user Clickworker.
While the number of opportunities through Clickworker may be limited, their partnership with UHRS greatly expands the job opportunities for users.
Tasks through UHRS do typically require assessments and require users to qualify. Not all users will be eligible and the qualification tests are typically unpaid.
However, you can make much more money per task with UHRS tasks than regular Clickworker tasks. So, explore UHRS jobs if you really want to maximize your earnings with this side hustle.
4. Get Paid
Clickworker tasks outline how much they pay, so you know exactly how much you’re earning for the work you do. Once you complete a task, it goes into review. You get paid to your Clickworker account once the task is approved.
As for cashing out, Clickworkers are automatically paid during their weekly or bi-weekly payment cycles. Payment is made via PayPal, SEPA or Payoneer.
There’s a $10 USD or EURO minimum requirement to get paid, so you might have to wait a week or two for your first payment depending on how much you work.
You also have to enter a payment method and your tax information to get paid.
If you have reached the minimum payout amount, you will automatically receive payment as well as an invoice of what was paid out for your completed jobs.
How Much Does Clickworker Pay?
Payment on Clickworker depends on the tasks you’re completing. Some activities may pay multiple dollars, others may just pay cents. Usually, surveys can pay a few dollars while the shorter data-entry type tasks might pay a few pennies or $0.10 to $0.50.
On average, you’re probably earning about $5 to $9 per hour depending on your skills, experience, and efficiency.
However, some people report earning $10 to $15+ per hour on Clickworker, although I don’t think you should expect this average. And just like with sites like Appen, Lionbridge, Amazon MTurk, and others, working efficiently is very important to earn more money.
As you can see in the Clickworker dashboard below, many tasks pay $0.10 to $0.20, but there’s one survey for $3.75 that takes about 20 minutes.
Also note that tasks can take a while to get approved. This means it can take a few weeks for money from a task to actually reach your Clickworker account.
Don’t fret; this is just how the platform works, and Clickworker’s clients need time to verify tasks. If you do a job, you will get paid and can cash out.
In addition to completing tasks on Clickwoorker, you can also earn referral income. Users can earn $5 for each new Clickworker that they refer to the platform. This new user referral needs to earn at least $10 through Clickworker before this bonus is paid.
Is Clickworker Legit?
Yes, Clickworker is legit and has been paying users for their work since 2010. In fact, the platform has over 3.6 million freelancers from around the world, plenty of positive reviews, and many happy freelancers.
I found the Clickworker site was very easy to use and understand as well. And the fact it accepts freelancers from around the world is a massive selling point.
The main reason people don’t like Clickworker is that it can take a while to get paid. But once clients approve your work, the money appears in your account and you can cash out if you have at least $10.
Other Clickworker Reviews
We think Clickworker is legit after testing out the site. But it’s also good to see what other uses have to say to help inform your decisions.
This Clickworker review from YouTuber Free To Be provides an excellent overview of how the platform works and what you can expect in terms of hourly earnings.
In his review, Free To Be explains how he was able to make about $9 in one hour on Clickworker. The survey offers paid the most, and many data and AI tasks paid him about $0.80.
His complaint was that again, the money can take up to 30 days to reach your account since clients have to approve your work.
Overall, it seems like Clickworker is a nice, reliable source of beermoney. But it won’t make you rich or replace your day job.

Pros & Cons
When you are considering a Clickworker job, here are some pros and cons to keep in mind.
- PayPal payment is available
- Flexible work that can be done on your schedule
- You can work from your phone with the Clickworker app which is convenient when you are away from home
- Forum is available to support users
- Hourly pay can reach $5 to $10+ which is good for micro task sites
- Asks for personal data including Social Security Number
- Your hourly rate is often below minimum wage for most states
- Users may spend lots of time qualifying for tasks only to be rejected
- Work availability may be irregular, which prevents this from being stable income
Again, you can use Clickworker to make an extra $50 to $200 a month kind of thing if you put in the work and get enough gigs. But don’t expect to make thousands of dollars per month.
Best Clickworker Alternatives
Clickworker is a leading micro task site that’s ideal if you want a flexible schedule and range of tasks to complete. However, it’s always good to have a few sites in your toolkit so you can chase the highest-paying offers.
Here are some other excellent sites like Clickworker you can use to make more money:
- Survey Junkie: A leading paid survey site that lets you earn free PayPal cash and gift cards.
- Branded Surveys: Another popular survey site that lets you cash out at just $5!
- Amazon MTurk: A leading micro task platform from Amazon that pays you for completing very similar tasks to Clickworker.
- Appen: A high-paying alternative to Clickworker that can also offer part-time work with more fixed hours.
Again, it’s important to have realistic expectations since these sites won’t pay you thousands of dollars per month.
However, this combo of sites can turn into some decent side cash if you put in the effort.
Frequently Asked Questions
When starting a new opportunity online or in person, it’s natural to have questions. Here are some of the commonly asked questions users have in regards to Clickworker.
Is Clickworker A Scam?
No, Clickworker isn’t a scam. There are plenty of positive reviews on GlassDoor and Indeed from satisfied Clickworkers. And the company has a track record of paying out its millions of users on time.
Just like most apps to make money, there are also those who are dissatisfied. Common complaints are very low pay, limited opportunities and difficulty qualifying for tasks.
Who Can Join Clickworker?
Users need to be 18 years or older and speak a language supported by Clickworker to sign up. You also need a smartphone, a computer and a stable internet connection. The platform is available in 45+ countries throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Just note that you have to fill out a W9 form if you live in the United States and provide your full name, home address and social security number.
Other countries have similar sign up requirements, and you also have to submit your tax information.
This site is heavily focused on English and does required assessments for users on their knowledge of the language. Users who speak other languages may find themselves at a disadvantage.
Is Clickworker Worth It?
Clickworker is worth it if you want an easy, flexible way to make some extra cash on the side. And it’s a decent online job that pays weekly once you complete enough tasks to get paid regularly.
It seems from general consensus on various reviews and forums like Quora and Reddit, that opinions on Clickworker are mixed. Some users are convinced that this microtask website is a scam, and others have had positive experiences on the site.
Those who have made money on Clickworker do seem to agree, that while you can earn income, the pay is overall extremely low. However, it’s an easy way to boost your income while working from home.
Personally, I’m not fully comfortable with the fact that they are based outside the United States, and some of the information they are requesting seems too private.
For example, I’m not comfortable giving my Social Security number (which is required for U.S. users) and some tasks appear to require additional personal information as well.
Some users report also being asked to share copies of their driver’s license, passports, and even photos of their children, which is a red flag for me.
Admittedly as a past victim of identity theft I’m overly cautious, so others may be more OK with these requests. I would just advise using caution before providing your private data online to any website or individual.
At the end of the day, Clickworker pays users who complete tasks, and it’s one of the most popular micro task sites out there.
Just make sure you’re comfortable with the data you have to provide when signing up and that you have realistic expectations about hourly pay!
