In a nutshell, Achievement is a health tracking app that helps you monitor how active you are and if you’re following healthy habits (more on this later).
The app is so popular that it’s actually within the top 10 health tracking apps on the app store, and I even used Achievement back in school when I was trying out different college side hustles.
Like other fitness apps, the idea with Achievement is to motivate you with points to earn rewards.
So, if you want to earn extra money just for being healthy, this is the app for you.
However, the app actually has quite a bit of depth, so let’s take a dive into how you actually make money with Achievement.
How Does Achievement Work?
The Achievement app is completely free to download and use.
If you find it difficult to stay motivated when chasing your fitness goals, hopefully, the Achievement app can help keep you on track and even put some extra money in your pocket.
Here’s how the app works:
1. Download Achievement
The first step to use Achievement is, of course, to download the app for Android or IOS.
Achievement is available in the United States and Canada. You must also be 18 or older to create an account.
When you sign up, you provide your:
- First and last name.
- Postal code.
Achievement then sends an email confirmation that you have to open and click on to finalize creating your Achievement account.
2. Connect A Fitness Tracker Or Device
Achievement connects to a fitness tracker or fitness app on your phone to monitor your daily activity, step count, and if you’re keeping up with your goals.
Currently, Achievement works with over a dozen fitness devices and apps, including:
- Daily Mile
- Samsung Health
Wearables like FitBit, Apple Watch, Garmin, Misfit, and Oura Ring are also compatible trackers.
You have to connect your app of choice to Achievement so the app can track your activity level.
Additionally, some of these apps aren’t exactly fitness apps, but Achievement has several other earning options besides being active we’ll cover in a bit.
Once you sync a device or app with Achievement, you should see a report of your daily physical activity appear in the app.
3. Exercise & Earn
The main way to make money with the Achievement app is to regularly exercise.
But before we dive into the different types of exercises and ways to earn, let’s cover Achievement’s point system.
The main thing to know is that 10,000 points equals $10.
So, in other words, a single Achievement point is worth $0.001.
This doesn’t sound like much, but remember, Achievement is really a passive income app at the end of the day.
Anyway, on Achievement, you can earn up to 80 points per day by completing the following tracked activities:
Playing sports and other types of exercise also qualify.
However, Achievement pays you more points if your fitness device detects your activity and “verifies” it versus you manually logging your activity into the app.
This isn’t really an issue since modern fitness trackers are super accurate, but you might find that a less intense workout sometimes doesn’t register fully.
Thankfully, Achievement always rewards you with points for the highest activity of a given day.
For example, if your FitBit shows you ran 10KM but your Apple Health app only detects 8KM, Achievement pays you points for the 10KM distance.
There’s no exact forumla for how much different activities or intensities pay, but the main thing is that you’re capped at 80 points per day.

4. Log Daily Activities
If you think Achievement is only for super athletes, you’re thankfully mistaken!
You can also earn points for logging daily activities like:
- The food you eat.
- Sleep tracking.
- Weight tracking.
- Sharing updates about your fitness journey.
This is why Achievement works with apps like Twitter or My Fitness Pal; you can earn from logging and sharing information about your daily activities and fitness routine.
Now, Achievement only pays up to 6 points per day for up to 5 unique activities, so this isn’t as high-paying as exercising.
Other Ways To Earn With Achievement
If you regularly exercise and log your daily activities, you can earn around 86 Achievement points per day.
However, there are several other earning options that can help you reach your 10,000 point total faster.
1. answer Health Surveys
I generally think online surveys aren’t worth it because they take so much time and barely pay anything.
The Achievement app also pushes occasional surveys to you. However, these aren’t nearly as brutal as what you’ll find on survey websites.
Generally, these surveys are short, multiple-choice types of polls that just ask you about different aspects of fitness, nutrition, and your health.
In exchange, you can earn a small amount of points for your time.
Additionally, Achievement also offers an annual health survey to learn more about you. You can take this survey once per year and also earn points for doing so.
2. Take Part In Research Studies
One of the benefits of answering surveys on Achievement is that the platform learns more about you.
In turn, Achievement can sometimes offer more lucrative research studies if your demographic profile is a match for a study.
Achievement states these research studies can pay up to $200, which is pretty awesome.
Keep in mind, not every health study will pay this much.
Plus, you really have to be comfortable sharing your personal information with Achievement and third-party research companies when you take part in studies (or use the app in general).
I used Achievement during college because I was okay with sharing my data, but definitely think it through!

3. Refer Friends
Another way to earn Achievement points is to refer people you know to the app.
The Achievement referral program pays you 100 points for every friend you successfully get to sign up and connect one app to their account.
You can refer a maximum of 20 friends, for 2,000 points in total ($2).
This really isn’t anything too special, but hey, if you’re competing with friends in fitness challenges already you might as well all earn some free money!
4. Read Articles
According to Achievement, you can also earn points for reading health-related articles the app recommends.
In my time using Achievement, I only came across an article once.
This idea is pretty similar to the old version of Carrot Rewards that paid you for reading sponsored content, but it’s definitely not a major component of the platform.
Achievement Rewards – Options & Cashing Out
As mentioned, 10,000 points equals $10 on Achievement.
You also need a minimum of 10,000 points to cash out. In the world of reward apps, this is pretty average.
As for Achievement reward options, you can redeem points for:
- PayPal cash.
- Free gift cards.
- Charitable donations.
Note that Achievement works with a third-party gift card provider, so inventory can change.
Rewards usually process within one week, and there’s plenty of payment proof online for Achievement as well.

How Much Can You Earn With Achievement?
Alright, let’s do a quick bit of math to figure out your earning potential.
If you had a perfect exercise record and always tracked your activities, you could earn 86 points per day on Achievement.
At this rate, it would take you 116 days to reach $10, which works out to just under 4 months.
However, this is assuming perfect exercise and tracking, which definitely isn’t realistic (it wasn’t for me when I was using Achievement, anyway).
So, you’re probably closer to the 30 to 50 points per day range if you have some off days or don’t always max out your exercise points.
BUT, when you factor in survey opportunities, your point total gets a bit higher.
Ultimately, I think you can expect around $20 to $30 per year from Achievement if you answer surveys and are quite active.
The real earning potential comes from taking part in research studies, which can pay up to $200.
If you get lucky, this means Achievement is suddenly a $200 side hustle or more.
However, most studies won’t pay that, so again, I’d be surprised if you earn more than $100 per year with Achievement.
The bottom line is that I place Achievement around the $20 to $50 per year range, albeit with some decent variance.
I thought I’d wrap up my Achievement app review by answering a few of the most common questions people have about this fitness app.
1. Is Achievement Legit?
According to Achievement’s app store page, the company has paid more than $7,000,000 to users since inception.
There’s also plenty of payment proof online if you look on places like Reddit (as seen above).
Achievement is a legit company that pays users.
The main problem people have with this app is if their fitness tracker disconnects from their Achievement account so they don’t actually earn points.
The best way to avoid this unpleasant surprise is to regularly login to Achievement to see if your devices are still connected.
2. Who Uses Achievement?
As far as I’m aware, Achievement is available in the U.S. and Canada, and you can sign up as long as you’re 18.
The platform is free, and there’s really no catch: you’re just selling your fitness data for some rewards!
Ultimately, the Achievement app is perfect for:
- Anyone trying to get extra motivation to stay fit.
- Anyone who is currently exercising but wants to track their fitness and earn rewards.
Pros & Cons
There’s a reason why Achievement has millions of members and is a leading fitness tracking app.
- Mostly passive income.
- Multiple ways to earn.
- Lucrative research opportunities.
- Encourages healthy habits.
- Completely free to use.
- Decent mix of reward options, including PayPal cash.
However, there’s no denying that Achievement is one of the lower-paying fitness apps around.
- Very low earning potential.
- Not global.
- Need to be comfortable sharing your data.
As long as you’re comfortable sharing some personal info and want encouragement to get more active, I think Achievement is worth downloading.
The Best Apps Like Achievement
If you like what this fitness app is trying to accomplish, some Achievement app alternatives you can try include:
- Charity Miles – Exercise and earn money for a charity of your choice.
- HealthyWage – Make a weight loss bet on yourself and earn up to $10,000.
- StepBet – Bet on yourself and compete with other players to reach your weekly step goals.
- DietBet – Another weight loss betting app where you can earn some extra money for getting in shape.
- Sweatcoin – A semi-passive app that pays you with Sweatcoins, a virtual currency, the more you walk!
None of these apps, save for HealthyWage and DietBet, havev very serious earning potential.
Personally, I think apps like Achievement are more important for staying motivated and educating yourself and less about the money.
If you only care about making money while getting active, you can always turn to gig economy apps instead.
For example, in many markets, you can work for DoorDash or Uber Eats as a bike courier!
My friend did this in Toronto, and he could clear $80 in a shift and get a bunch of cardio in.
The point is to get creative! There’s a surprising number of ways you can make money while getting your steps in.
